The assignment: Inspection and complete boiler refurbishment
Prior to the annual maintenance shutdown, the customer contacted Eldfast for an inspection due to problems with low efficiency and high emissions. The inspection revealed that the boiler was incorrectly lined and the refractory was heavily worn with excessive slag build-up, caused by improper past installation. Eldfast provided a comprehensive inspection report with photo documentation, recommendations for this year’s revision, and a multi-year maintenance plan.
Execution: Structure, planning and precision
The customer provided a clear timeline for project execution. Eldfast removed the damaged refractory, cleared out all debris, and sandblasted the furnace shell. A certified subcontractor was brought in for the required welding.
Eldfast then installed a new refractory lining:
- The roof was spray-coated
- Side walls and mid-arch were rebuilt
- Bearing surfaces and turbo rings were cast
The project was delivered as a full-service package: budgeting, engineering, execution and final documentation. With technicians, supervisors, and a project manager on site, the plant was handed back to the client after controlled drying – safely and without any injuries or environmental impact.
Customer statement:
"The project went very well! There were clear instructions and adherence to schedule.
I am very satisfied with the result."
